Free Resources to Help Children Learn About Sin, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation

File:Prodigal Son 003.jpg

Teaching children about sin and forgiveness can be a tricky thing. Many times children are not clear about what sin truly is. What is a venial sin? What is a mortal sin? What is the difference? How do we confess both of them? Are we really forgiven in confession? These are questions that I come across regularly in my CCD Religious Education class every year and in the rearing of my own children. As the age ranges vary from year to year, so the need arises for activities that help to solidify what Reconciliation or Penance is really truly about.

Find resources below that help to teach about Sin and Forgiveness and reinforce the basics of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  By using the variety of resources that focus on the basics of sin and forgiveness by examining the parable of the return of the Prodigal's son, children can get a solid view and understanding of this wonderful sacrament that restores sanctifying grace to our soul.
