Free Composer Study Notebooking Sheets for Homeschoolers and Educators

Learn about music from the master composers.

Our Lord made each person unique and with specific gifts and talents.  Some of can play and love music while others of us are not gifted in music at all short of turning the knob on and off on our stereo.  If your child is not great with playing an instrument or even getting the beat of music, they can still enjoy music by listening to others create and play it well.  By studying the master composers, children can come to relate to music in a more concrete and even historical sense.  Many learners choose to study art history.  Why not encourage studying music history as well?

Our notebooking packets for each composer below includes 21 pages to note biographical information about the individual musicians as well as sheets that could be used to highlight individual compositions, life events, and history of the musical period.  There are sheets which encourage drawing as well as writing.  Some pages include an image of the composer, which help add to the richness of studying these great music makers.

As a side note, these notebooking packets are the perfect complement to our Little Timeline of Composers resource set which includes images of the composers below, lines to affix the image cards, as well as a reference sheet to help you keep track of musical periods, birth and deaths of composers and the order which they could appear on the timeline itself.

There are wonderful resources you can easily find online to learn about the composers.  If you have a music collection at home, check the jackets and inserts as many production companies offer introductory booklets with composer biographies included.

Thrift stores are a great place to acquire music, especially if you are looking for vinyl records.  YES!!  We said vinyl.  There is just such a richness from records and there are always great selections in almost any thrift store.  New software programs lets you transfer records directly to high quality mp3 files too.  It's worth a look to create a great and quick collection of fine music that never goes out of style.

We hope that these resources help bring the study of music history to life for your learners of any age.
