Shapes and geometry have real value in today's world.
Whether it is helping to develop depth perception for software or web design, symmetry for careers in engineering, architecture or steel fabrication, or allowing a budding artist to "see" and recognize shapes in their subjects - shapes and geometry are important. Have fun helping your learners build and reinforce shape recognition and geometry skills using our simple game (that also helps get the wiggles out.)
Using such shapes as rectangles, cylinders, circles, arches, or ovals, you can encourage kids to recognize pieces by name as well as shape.
To use this resource simply print, cut out and play by spreading the shape pieces between two rooms in the house or a really large play room. For older kids who are in need of getting energy out, spread the shapes out around the entire house or backyard. Feel free to use your backyard if you don't allow indoor play.
Select random shapes for children to run and find. If the resource pages are printed out on colored paper, you can call pieces not only by shape but also by color. You may want to have many copies prepared to make for a fun and vibrant game.
This is a great game to help avoid burnout and encourage play indoors for those who live in cold areas or in inclement weather.
This file contains one instruction sheet and eight pages of shapes, including: oval, rectangle, cube, square, arch, cylinder, star, heart, triangle, circle, parallelogram.
Focus: Shape recognition of oval, rectangle, cube, square, arch, cylinder, star, heart, triangle, circle, parallelogram and utilize color recognition w/movement, if desired.
