Help Young Catholics Learn About the Seven Sacraments with the Heart of the Sacraments Project.
The Heart of the Sacraments Project encourages children to learn about the individual sacraments of the Catholic faith. This activity is the perfect unit or term project for middle and upper elementary-aged students (Gr.4-7) Religious Education class. It will present new information to younger learners while serving as a review for older students. Choose to store the project in a file folder, binder, pocket folder, or even display them on a wall or bulletin board.
Each sacrament presented in the project has a poster, reference sheet, review worksheet, and a cut-n-paste tracking piece. Each reference sheet presents the matter, form, effects, and dispensing norms (whom and how many times).
How to Use the Heart of the Sacraments Project
Through a small group or class discussion, students will have a chance to learn what a sacrament is and then focus on each of the seven individual sacraments. Learners will read through a reference sheet until confident enough to complete the matching worksheet or quiz. Once mastered, students track their progress by affixing fun, colorful Mastery Pieces to their Student Sheet. Charming modern heart images and posters joyfully remind children of all ages that God's love is at the heart of each sacrament as they add meaning and help solidify learning. Directions are provided as well as references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church for further reading and study.
