Help Young Catholics to Learn the Act of Contrition Prayer as They Develop Art Skills and Prepare for Reconciliation

Use this little booklet to help children learn to memorize and understand the Act of Contrition prayer. The prayer is broken into sections, each with a corresponding space for children to draw an image to help aid in memorization and build understanding. This resource can be quite beneficial to CCD or Religious Ed. classes.

Whether it is used as a class activity, review exercise, or take home resource, an explanation of the parts of the prayer should be given to help ensure that images drawn will match the text.

To create this black-and-white resource, simply print out the pages, cut apart on the dotted lines, glue the text pieces to the booklet, order, stack and staple the pages where indicated, and illustrate as desired.

In a class setting, you may want to present the prayer little by little as you affix each text piece to the booklet.

The version of the Act of Contrition used in this resource is as follows below.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You.
I detest all my sins because of Your just punishments,
but most of all because they offend You, my God,
Who are all good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace,
to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.
