Celebrate Lent with the Stabat Mater Dolorosa Copywork Set in Latin and English
This beautiful Latin hymn is thought to be created during 13th century, and is considered to be, by many sources, one of the seven greatest hymns of all time. It is written as a twenty verse couplet that references Simeon’s prophecy to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the presentation in the temple (Luke 2:35). This literary creation focuses on Our Lady's experience of the passion and death of her beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
The sheets in this packet feature each of the twenty verses of the in English and Latin and a picture to accompany each verse. Children may want to color or decorate the images, which vary in intricacy. The lines provided may be used to copy out the verses or write an original prayer. The line spacing used is suitable for new writers or those perfecting their cursive handwriting skills.
