Focus on the Sunday Gospel for the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

Use this unit study to help teach children the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus and that we must be kind and help those in need.  This lesson is based on the Gospel of St. Luke 16:19-31.

This week’s Gospel focuses on our obligation to help the poor and needy.  According to the parable of the rich man and Lazarus as well as the Beatitudes, the poor will inherit God’s kingdom.  The greedy, selfish, and apathetic will not.  Children can learn that all people, rich or poor, deserve dignity, and there are many active ways to help the less fortunate.
