That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids - 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A)
Focus on the Sunday Gospel for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Use this unit study to help teach children that disciples choose to follow Jesus. It is based on Christ's requirements for discipleship in the Gospel of St. Matthew 16:21-27.
This lesson helps us to know Christ's expectations for discipleship. The Lord says in Matthew 16:24, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Disciples are people who choose to make Jesus their leader and follow Him. They try to imitate Him by loving all people and obeying Jesus' teachings and commands. Ultimately, all disciples are called to put God at the center of their lives. By focusing on what God wants for us instead of what we can gain from the world, we can grow to be loyal disciples of Christ who will be rewarded with the happiness of Heaven.
