Focus on the Sunday Gospel Celebrate the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Use this unit study to help teach children that John the Baptist was a messenger for Christ and that he spoke the truth.  This lesson develops the theme that Jesus Christ is truly God and we should learn as much as we can about Him.  It is based on the Gospel of St. John 1:29-34.

St. John the Baptist proclaims to the crowds surrounding him that Christ is coming soon and that He is truly the Son of God.  John is acting as a messenger to tell the people about the Messiah’s coming.  As Christians, we are also called to do the same.  We should learn as much as we can about the faith so that we can tell others about the Good News and proclaim that Jesus is God.

This fun unit study is suited for a CCD or Religious Education class. It may also be used for Sunday School programs or as homeschool materials.
