That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids – 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A)

That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids – 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A) Can Help Students Learn About the Value of Goodness.

Use That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids – 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A) unit study to help teach children that goodness is more important than honor. It is based on Christ's final public speech given in the Gospel of St. Matthew 23:1-12.

This lesson helps us to focus on the concept of goodness and being a good Christian example to others. Christ warns the people about following the poor behavior of the scribes and Pharisees. Although these leaders teach the proper laws of the Jewish faith, they are not good and holy examples to those who followed them. Christ also addressed His disciples, saying in Matthew 23:8, "But be not you called Rabbi. For one is your master; and all you are brethren." Jesus reminds them that they are all equals on the same mission and avoid using honor titles, which can puff up their pride. They have but one true Master or Rabbi to follow, that is Christ Jesus.

This fun unit study is suited for a CCD or Religious Education class, and it may also be used for Sunday School programs or as homeschool materials.
