That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids - Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Cycle A) Can Help Kids Learn About Christ's Divinity.
Use That Weekly Liturgy Lesson for Kids - Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Cycle A) to help teach youngsters that Jesus wants to reassure and encourage us when we are afraid. The inspiration for this lesson was Christ's transfiguration in the Gospel of St. Matthew 17:1-9.
In this week's Gospel, Jesus is transfigured in front of Peter, James, and John. This beautiful miracle was a sign of Christ's divinity. His followers who witnessed the event were filled not only with awe but also fear. Jesus showed us His desire and willingness to reassure all who follow Him. When the three are overwhelmed by the amazing site of Christ, the appearance of Moses and Elijah, and God the Father speaking from Heaven, Jesus calmly and confidently eases their fear and encourages them to trust Him. His response speaks volumes to our humanity. As He touches them, He says, "Arise, and fear not."
