Focus on the Sunday Gospel by Using Our Weekly Liturgy Lesson - 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle B).
Use this Weekly Liturgy Lesson - 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle B) unit study to help teach children that those who are not against us are for us. This lesson is based on the Gospel of St. Mark 9:37-47.
Many times we may be tempted, like the Apostle John in this week’s Gospel, to compare or judge our actions as a Christian against other followers of Christ. We may do this in our own school, parish, or faith community. Jesus makes it very clear that anyone who serves Him, even in the least, will not lose his reward. He teaches us not to be jealous of others and the service they perform for love of Him. A good way to conquer jealousy is to think of everyone being on the same team for Christ. When members find common ground in their beliefs and goals, they can more easily avoid feelings of jealousy and work together for love of God.
This fun unit study is suited for a CCD or Religious Education class, and it may also be used for Sunday School programs or as homeschool materials. The Sacrament of Baptism, unity, and jealousy are reinforced in this lesson.
