Focus on the Sunday Gospel for the 3rd Sunday of Advent.
Use this unit study to help teach children about preparing to encounter Christ during Advent. This lesson is based on Luke 3:10-18.
St. John the Baptist’s task is to prepare the people to encounter the Messiah. He explains to any who will listen that they must come to God with a repentant heart and that they must live according to such virtues as justice, charity, and honesty. Although some believe St. John to be the Christ, the Prophet gives them a clear message that he is not the Messiah. St. John offers his followers the assurance that the Savior is coming, and the Christ will be much greater than himself. This is joyful news.
