Focus on the Sunday Gospel for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.

Use this unit study to help teach children about the Baptism of the Lord, the First Luminous Mystery of the Holy Rosary.  The theme of this lesson is Christians must imitate Jesus.  This lesson is based on Luke 3:21-22.

In this week’s Gospel, God the Father speaks to Jesus from heaven saying that He is pleased with Him. Christ who was sinless allowed Himself to be baptized to give us the perfect example of obedience to God’s will. We must remember that Jesus is our role model, and our eyes should always be fixed on Him. As Christians, we mark ourselves as followers of Christ and are to be examples to others. It is a big responsibility to represent the Lord, and it must be done with great humility and love.
