February Is the Month of the Holy Family

“And after they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their city Nazareth. And the child grew and waxed strong, full of wisdom: and the grace of God was in him.” – Luke 2:39-40
The Holy Family is the model family for all Christians. Our resources can help children become familiar with this family unit: God’s only Son, the Holy Mother, and the foster-father who was good and a faithful worker. Mother Church calls upon us to study and imitate the Holy Family.
This month is also an excellent time to focus on the role of the family and living the Fourth Commandment, which tells us that we must honor our mother and father. As well, it is an opportune time to introduce children to the periods of Christ’s life – His early life, which is often called “Hidden” or “Private,” and His Public Life of ministry.
